List of groups for children with speech development problems in Londonderry/ Derry Northern Ireland?

3 year old child has speech development problems therefore cant socialise, lack of concentration, speechtherapist does not help as saying cant work with him as he cant concentrate. He never received a holistic assessment. Just the hearing is tested, over and over again, but there is nothing wrong with it. He hears everything even before other people would hear. eg. cars coming before you can see them....
We feel very helpless as we worry about his socialising issue more as about the fact that he cant speak properly. He is very isolated in nursery (although he has a fantastic teacher who is doing a lot for him) as the children do not take him on. We would like to know if there are any private groups around Derry where families can go for the children to play together, also if other people would have some tips for us. eg. speechtherapist not doing there job as they should do....

I sympathise with you! Sometimes the health professionals are not great at giving info. Speak to your health visitor, she may have info on local groups.
Search for Yahoo Groups for children with similar problems, there may be a group that knows your area and can help. If your child has specifically named problem, search for that on the net, again it may throw up some local contact.
I did a search but it really did not come up with any decent info, so the above is the best I can think of. Good luck...I know what it feels like to have an isolated child...;
