I have polycystic ovary disease and i want to have a baby what should i do? |
I'm 20 years old and I'm a junior in college i have polycystic ovary disease and i want to have a baby, but my family disagree. polycystic ovary disease is a life long disease and if i dont choose to have a baby now i might never be able to have a child. i dont want to hurt my family but i feel i have to stay true to myself. I've been depressed about it for 2 weeks now and I have my first doctors visit on april 7, 2007. i dont want to be on birth control because it will stop me from doing what I want to do so badly. Then again i find myself asking am i ready for a child right now and realizing how having a child right now can damper my future. I'm a child development major I know about babies but do i know enough? this subjuct really hit home for me because in the bible it states that women were put on earth to bear children and being a women that can bear children leaves me asking why am i here? what purpose do I have on earth? First of all you need to get counseling to get out of this depression. It won't help you to get pregnant, if you aren't healthy even to take care of a child, emotionally and physically. my sister was in the same situation as you,she now has a healthy 1!/2 year old with no complications. all she done was change her diet.also one of her friend has the same and it also worked for her.my sis was trying for a baby for 10 years ,she gave up hope untill the day she fell preg.the docs warned she may not carry full term but she showed them!! it can be a life long disease but it can also rectify itself! good luck Having a baby for this reason alone is not right. You are mis-informed that you have to have one now or not at all. A good friend of mine has had this disease since high school and gave birth last year at 27 years old. First, if you're having any doubts about your readiness to be a parent, it's because you're NOT ready. At the very least, because you're still a student, you're certainly not financially ready. Not being financially ready, in and of itself, is more than enough reason to not become a parent. I have PCOS also. It's ridiculous that you think you have to get pregnant now because you fear you won't be able to later. That is an absolutely inaccurate assumption. I've had PCOS since I was 14! I'm 30 now and am currently in fertility treatments to try and conceive. It doesn't matter how old you are, chances are that if you have PCOS you'll have to have fertility treatments anyway. Wait until you're older and you're married and you're ready to start a family. Ok no one really knows what their purpose is here on earth. Only God knows. As for the depression you should talk to someone (doctor or non-family) to help with that. I think if your cysts are under control you shouldn't have much of a problem with getting pregnant. As for your family, mine is the same way. My first pregnancy ended at 5 weeks cause I had and ectopic (where it doesn't move into the womb area) I almost lost my life from it. Then 7 months later I got pregnant again and I had my son. Then last year I had another ectopic this one wasn't so bad this time, but it scared my family and they don't want me to try anymore. But I want more. If you are where you want to be in life or know where you are going, things should turn out ok. Kids are fun but they are also hard work. So good luck hope you figure things out. Go see an endocrinologist....*Reproductive Doctor* He or she can help |
