I take care of a child that has HSV-2. Can I get it by accidentally touching their urine? |
You see...I was lifting the child up to place another diaper under her when I accidentally came in contact with some urine on the bed pad because her diaper had leaked. I washed my hands immediatley, but I am still concerned. Please help. No, you are fine. You're fine, don't worry. The answer above me is great. But do keep in mind that you can get HSV-2 anywhere on your body, while uncommon there have been cases of people getting it on their hands, so use antibacterial soap after changing the baby's diaper, and don't let it freak you out too much, you can only get it when she is sluffing off cells that are infected, so pretty much when or soon after she has an outbreak, and then you can wear gloves to be protected. Also new research is saying that putting flouride on your sores will prevent you from getting an outbreak in that area again? I don't know, sorry wasn't paying all that much attention, I'm not effected by HSV, but you may look it up and see. Good Luck! |
