My son is having a tonsillectomy in 2 wks; a child in my care has a staph infection; any prevention guidelines |
my son is 4; the child i watch is 19 mths.; I do not want my son to get a staph infection before he has surgery. What can I do to prevent this? yes make sure when you keep all door nobs and places he touches (best you can) wiped clean and sanitized. once at hospital have them give you sanitizing cleaner and clean the door handles and phone and the remote on the bed and bed railing. i got infection at the hospital and that's what i made them do when i got it.. those are the germ est places and thats where everyone touchs and dont think about. good luck first off if your babysitting him you should not let him in your home until he is 100% non contagious. theres no way to completely prevent it but steps to take first off would be not to let the child in your home until he is well. sanatize over sanatize disenfect everything wash your hands all the time have the 4 yr old do the same and you can wash the 19 month olds hands. watch things that go into there mouth avoid as much contact as possible until the surgery and there after my son had his tonsils done at 4 and the 2 weeks after surgery was HORRID. Good luck and if at all possible avoid the child until he is well for the best intrest of your child |
