Do you think adhd is child abuse? |
Do you think it constitutes child abuse to stigmatise and burden children with unneccessary labels and give them powerful, often dangerous drugs often against their will and use them as scapegoats? Do you think this WHOLE business entails child abuse? No I am glad they finally found the problem and can help these kids. If you do not have ADD or ADHD you do not know how hard it is for that child. I think the meds should be watched and how the child reacts to it. This helps these kids to learn and not be made fun of at school!!! Kids at school can be very cruel when these kids are slow in learning and the meds help so they can cope and be on the same level as everyone else!! No. Mental illness is mental illness whether it be a child or adult. Have you ever seen an adhd child? I think that there are maybe just a few children that truly have an attention disorder. But most of these children's problems stem from the parents inability, for one reason or another, to behave like a parent. Spoiling, and giving only sweets and crap for snacks. Ignoring the child when they need attention, giving attention when they shouldn't get it. Making excuse after excuse for behavior, and not discipline them when the child should have been disciplined. In order to get the needed help you have to get the Dianosis or the "label". With out the label the school won't help and the doctors can't send you to the proper doctor or at least Insurance won't pay. I think that most of the time a child is labled ADHD they are really just active CHILDREN. I guess Me and both of my brothers would have been labled ADHD, and probably almost every child I grew up with. You know what faerie, at one point in time they blamed Autism on the parents or mothers inabilitys. They of course were very wrong as I belive you are as well. Obviously you don't have a child with ADHD. You don't know the heartbreak and frustration of watching your child try his hardest to be "normal" but just can't. Constant figeting with fingers, ears, toys, anything like that. Not being able to understand a simple explanation because one word that's said forces your mind to think of something completely unrelated. Have you ever not been able to sleep because you were thinking about something not related to sleep? Same thing. Could you do anything about it on your own? Not likely. You either let it go and get very little sleep, so you function at a lower level the next day, or you take some medicine that relaxes you enough to sleep. See the parallel? |
