Chewing tobacco vs. beef jerky "chew"? |
Is beef jerky chew safer than chewing tobacco? If you haven't seen the beef jerky stuff, it's basically beef jerky ground up into little pieces and put in a can. It contains no nicotine. Would chewing that stuff be safer than chewing tobacco? MUCH SAFER! Chewing tobacco has been linked in numerous studies to oral, pharyngeal (throat) and stomach cancer. As for beef jerky, I'm sure it's much more benign but I wouldn't risk chewing for a long time on anything that could increase the level of bacteria in your mouth. But at least, likely the biggest risk you run with beef jerky is an increase in cavities. Jerky is way better. Last year in 6th grade in Life Skills, we watched a video on chewing tabacco. OMG! It looked so bad! I was the one to throw up because of it! It looks like hair is growing on your tounge! You dont wanna see it! |
