Anyone been prescribed Chantix for chewing tobacco?

I know many smokers who have quit using Chantix, but wonder if it would work the same for those who chew tobacco. I have looked all over their website and all it talks about is smokers.

If you were prescribed it for chewing, how did you do?

My husband was prescribed Chantix for his chewing tobacco addiction. He's been taking if for a couple of weeks now. He'd do alot better if he'd actually follow the directions. You're supposed to set a stop date 7 days out but he hasn't tried to completely stop yet. He does chew alot less though adn says he gets less enjoyment out of it

This probably isn't the answer you are looking for.. but you (or whomever it is that is quiting) needs to just do it cold turkey. It's not the "easy way out" for quiting but it is the best way to quit if you really are serious about it.

There are ways to make it easier too. First quit in the morning.. that way you figure you already have an 8 hour jump on being without tobacco. Second carry something to chew on (in my case Im drinking alittle coffee). Third is change up your routine.. try to stay away from activities such as bars/clubs/drinking for a while cause these places are going to make you want to start again.

Remember that after 3 days the physical side effects are over.. and a while longer the mental effects will be over. And a craving is actually only 10 seconds long.. it's dwelling on it that causes it to persist for longer.
