Sedation during Cesarean Section? |
One of my relatives is due for delivery in November 2006. Doctors are asking is she wants to go for complete Anesthesia or partial one. Can someone share their experience and advice us. Ugh. I had 2, count them 2, partials that didn't take, and ended up being put out completely. I awoke groggy and miserable, and missing the "birth" of my daughter. If I could do it again, I would have been happy with the waist down partial, so I could actually be present at the arrival of the baby. If I coluld have been Knocked out to have the two I had I would have definitely done it!Why be awake when you can sleep the pain away? Then you wake up and see the one you've been waiting for. Well I was given partial sedation 2 times (2 kids). Nothing bad at all if anything I would think its more emotional partially sedated. You dont feel a thing and you can hear the babies first cries. I wasent given an option though its strange then are giving her the option of either or. But either way if I had to choose I would choose partial sedation definately. FYI: I doubt they would put the person under full sedation until the pain goes away. You are doped up on pain reliever anyways. You will eventually feel the pain, as with any other surgery, either way. http://www.healing-arts.org/mehl-madrona... I've had both of our children by c-section and was awake for both. I wouldnt miss it for the world!! Being put totally under is (to me) scarier than the partical, plus, you miss out on hearing the first cry of your baby and seeing him(her) right away. |
