Question about cervical spine injuries & conditions.? |
I just recently had an MRI On my cervical spine. I have been having tremendous pain & popping in my neck, numbness in my arms & hands, heavy feeling in my arms. My Dr. called & told me the MRI showed either a bone fragment or a spur in my neck.C 6 & 7, I think. I'm going to "Pain Management", today; what can I expect to happen? I'm a bit scared, as my Dr. told me I MAY have to have surgery. Anything about this would be helpful. Thank you in advance. Pain management will work with you to find a treatment plan to get your pain under control either with drugs or a TENS unit or a patch or whatever they fell will work for you. As for surgery they will either remove the bone fragment if they can find it or take off the spur if that is what it is. I am currently in Pain Management for cervical spine pain as well as other areas in my spine. Due to a car accident quite a while ago, the disc at C4-C5 has eroded away and I too have the same symptoms. I've had the nerves burnt and it helped for a while. I would prefer to have the damn thing fused, but my insurance wants to cover all the bases. Monday, I'm having injections in my Lower Spine. I would also wish to have that fused also. But....... I take pain meds also. Well you are going to think I'm crazy but I would shop around for a chiropractor for evaluation. I have a really great one. I really feel they are the best when it comes to reading MRI images and they offer Conservative care, in other words they will do everything possible to get you well without surgury. |
