Breast Cancer AND Cervical Cancer??

Recently my family and I have found some signs that point to our mother having breast or cervical cancer. I was wondering if perhaps a doctor or anyone with experience in this could help me out with a few questions. First, is it possible to have BOTH cancers? Also, our mother HATES doctors; she thinks they are qwacks. Which means she doesn't go to them. If, god forbid, she has one or the other...or both... can someone beat it without treatment?? Not to mention, are there any links to having cervical cancer and THEN getting breast cancer; or the other way around? I know she has had cervical cancer, and I'm not sure if it was ever FULLY 'taken care of'. My mother also had something drained out of her breast. It burst and she was finally forced to seek help from a trained professional. (THANK GOD!!) If anyone has ANY suggestions or answers... PLEASE let me know. Thank you!!

My mother had cervical cancer first, a little under a year ago she had that..'taken care of'. Now..just a few months ago had a Mastitis. Could that be caused from the first cervical cancer spreading??

Yes, a person can have two cancers... they can be related, meaning there is one primary type which has spread to another location or separate, meaning they are two completely different types. if they are related i am not sure how to determine which came first. i would suspect it would be very difficult for a person to "beat" either of these without any treatment, although even with the best treatment a cancer can spread or recur in another location... from what i have read, i think it is more likely that they are separate cancers (cervical and ovarian cancer have better known "links") but anyone who has had any cancer always has the risk of recurrence. hope this helps... and good luck

research it here this is the site my brother used when going through med school

It depends where the cancer originated. If the cervical cancer came first then it could have spread to the breast but it would be considered and treated as cervical cancer.
Your mom needs to get checked every 6 months after cervical cancer considering she had it before if it returns it usually comes back bigger and faster than before. Breast cancers sometimes spread to the brain, as does lung cancer. Any cancer can spread to the brain, but breast and lung are the more likely then others.
Your mom has neglected her health long enough. The doctors cannot be quacks if they diagnosed and treated her other cancer. Early detection is key. There is no help for her here on Answers, she needs a mamogram and a pap smear and some other tests if in fact this is recurrent cancer.
Breast lumps are not usually cancerous, many lumps are fibrous and nothing to worry about just annoying cysts. Given her history though she really needs to be seen by a physician.
Your mom probably had a cyst drained from her breast.
The cervical cancer is taken care of, but you didn't mentiona hysterectomy. If she had her uterus out then they may have left the ovaries and the lymph glands and cancer can hide in both of them. Chances of beating cancer with or without treatment is truly unreliable statistics. If she is going to try and beat cancer without treatment she will need to follow strict diet and simply rest at all times. There are specific diets that people have claimed to have beat cancer without treatment, and I think these people could be the quacks, but who knows. I guess if your mom refuses help the only thing you can do is love her and pray for as you should do anyway.
