Pain from Running in lower leg cerebral palsy related? |
I have had pain in my lower leg and upper foot, where the two connect to eachother. It feels like a muscle or tendon injury more then a bone injury. I have had shinsplints and multiple broken ankles but on the other leg so I know it is not those. I have cerebral palsy on my left side so when i put my foot down i do not land on the heel first like i should. I was running 4 miles before the injury and have recently cut down to 2-3 now. I feel the pain the most intense when i first wake up and the more i walk on it the better it feels so I think it is a problem with the muscle tightening up. I would like to get back to running 4+ miles again soon. If anyone knows what the problem could be or how to fix it, it would be greatly appreciated, preferable someone with experience with cerebral palsy. Thanks Hi, I don't have huge experience with CP but have nursed a couple of people with it. I would suggest using a heat pad, one of the ones which are designed for arthritis sufferers. That may help relax the muscle enough to reduce the pain. If it does not help then maybe you should see a doctor. |
