Cellulitis symptoms?

With cellulitis I know you get the red swollen leg etc... and you can also have fevers, but what is the time course of symptoms? Is it possible to get fever for a few days before a rash has even developed? Or does the fever only come after the rash has started? And also can vomitting be a symptom of cellulitis?

Thanks

Cellulitis can be a very serious problem. A low grade temp prior to actually having the redness and swelling is possible since your body is trying to fight off the bacteria that causes the inflammation. Most of my patients do not develop vomiting from the cellulitis but some get nausea and diarrhea from the antibiotics. See a Dr. Cellulitis is not only on legs- it can be anywhere and sometimes appears without any obvious reason although a simple scratch is enough. If there is any sort of drainage you should have it swabbed by a Dr. to find the best type of antibiotic to be on. Don't wait.

i never knew that it happens that

Pain and sometimes flu like symptoms. Pain in the area of the soar. This needs antibiotics.

mmy auntie had this and she had vommitting and fever a week before the rash developed on her leg

well i once had it on my face all over my nose checks eyes really bad .
i started with flu /fever symptons i never did vomit but i then was in hospital for bout 8 days on drip

Of course it can, cellulitis is the description of infection in the skin tissues, before this developed you could suffer from more systemic symptoms, such as high temps. A very high temp could make you vomit. Cellulitis infections are tender and NOT itchy, this helps to discriminate between an infection and an allergic reaction.

cellulitis doesent just swell the legs my mum got it over half of her face after getting an ifection after seeing the dentist and im not being cruel but she looked like the elephant man and half her face was bright red and patchy and she had a really high temprature she could barly speak it was a shame

Get it checked out................... I was told by one Doctor that I had cellulitis and had treatment for it........... after sometime another Doctor discovered that it was in fact Gout now have the correct medication and it does not come back anymore.

vomiting doesn't usually accompany cellulitis. it is possible for the fever to come first. it's very common with diabetics, and can scar the legs. it can also mask symptoms of a staph infection. it's always best to go to the doctor even if you get cellulitis often. you can end up with gangrene.
