Celiac disease What is the life expectancy of an adult caucasion female diagnosed with this in late 30's?

how long does a female survive with celiac disease? what is a life expectancy of a female diagnosed as an adult with celiac disease???

I would like to add an addendum to Amy's response stating that, "your life expectancy will probably be the same" even if you continue to eat gluten products. Not following a gluten free diet can lead to osteoporosis and various intestinal cancers. Both of these conditions may lead to complications that will shorten your lifespan.

talk to your GI doctor for advice on your specifically.

Celiac disease shouldn't shorten your life span if you stop eating gluten. Even if you were to continue eating it (and why would you?) your life span still probably would not be shortened but you might wish it were. So just stop eating gluten. What's the big deal? Lot's of people have celiac and don't know it. You are lucky that you found out.

You life expectancy with celiac disease is just as long as it would be if you didn't have celiac disease. My mother who is now in her 50's has celiac disease also and she lives a very normal fulfilling life. You to will also live a very normal fulfilling life (just with a little bit more label reading on foods).
