Do I have Celiac Disease? |
I was wondering if I have Celiac Disease. For my entire life (15 years) I have battled with horrible, horrible canker sores. I DID have hand foot & mouth disease & fifth disease when I was younger. However, after I eat, I get migraines. My mom thinks I have a food allergy-->I get extremely hyper after eating and then crash drastically with a headache. Sometimes I have bad stomach problems for no apparent reason. I used to get absolutley horrrrible cramps and then be in the bathroom for hours. Maybe. But, the test for celiac is just a simple blood test. Get it checked to find out for sure. Possibly, there are so many symptoms of the disease. I had horrible migraines that lasted me up to 21 days, I had done 2 MRI in my head looking for the possible cause of it and I have taken all OTC medications for migraines and I have tried more than a dozen of others that my doctor thought it would help, even shots when the pain was too much to endore. One day a lady who worked in a Health Store told me that my problem was food allergies. I thought she was wrong, but I had tried everything and nothing worked for me. I did a Detox diet for a week and then I started trying different foods proven to be the cause of many food allergies, and my main problem is sugar, sugary products and almost any kind of refined sugar and preservatives found in pop and sweets. So after that I reduced my sugar intake and my migraines are all gone, when I have one is because I ate something I shouldn't usually Rocky-Road ice cream. It seems to me that you have some kind of food allergy and it can be Celiac disease too. Go and see a doctor, ask to be tested to see if that is your problem. I found a web site that explains about celiac disease and it has a lot of good information. Please seek help, you are too young to be having so much pain. Its possible bc the symptoms of Celiac are different for nearly everyone with it. The canker sores are an indication that you have celiac or just gluten intolerance. I gave up gluten about 5 years ago and hardly ever have a canker sore now and had them almost continuously. Celiac disease can cause a strange array of symptoms so the best thing to do is get the blood test and if indicated, have a sample taken of your small intestine. Read the book, Celiac Disease, A Hidden Epidemic It's possible. There are several symptoms for celiac. The only way to officially diagnose celiac is to have an endoscopy and let them take a sample of the tissue in your small intestine for biopsy. An easier way to tell though is just to eliminate gluten completely for several weeks/months and see if your symptoms go away. If they do, there's a good chance you have celiac and you should just stick to a gluten free diet. If they don't improve at least a little, there's some other problem. |
