Celiac Disease = Giardia ?

The symptoms of Celiac (also IBS, Crohns, and more....) seem to parellel those of Giardia.

Problem with Giardia, is that Giardia is difficult to detect, and one test, even though it is negative does not guarantee that you don't have 'giardia', or other 'bacterial parasites'.

In one case a patient spent some 15 years with intestinal problems, the specialist said he had a 'disease' - no cause, no cure. Then an old country doctor stated quite simply, you have an intestinal infection, possibly giardia.

Problem is that it seems we have created 'diseases' that ignore the simple, obvious cause to many diseaes and that is 'bacteria'.

Why ?

Thanks Hai Van...

If as you say...

-Celiac is a auto-immuno disease, often appears in europe, industriel countries
-Giardia is a tropical infectious disease. Name of the bacteria is giardia lamblia

The logic suggests that doctors in 'indusstrialized countries' are failing to test for tropical diseases; with travel, individuals in industrial centers can pick them up quite easily.

I answered your other question also, despite u not making much sense (or I dont totally see the point in your question.)
Celiac is EXTREMELY hard to diagnosed and horribly misdiagnosed or underdiagnosed in America. The incidence is 1 in 133 ppl have it, but 97% of THOSE ppl do not know! That is horrible and sad when all that needs to be done is a simple blood test. Granted, blood testing is not 100% accurate (no test is) and if u are IGG and IGA deficient u will always test neg for Celiac. BUt endoscopies with biopsies can be done to diagnose CD, as can biopsies of the DH skin rash associated with CD.
It is awful that it takes solong for stuff to get diagnosed in USA. Docs are too quick to hand out meds (that are too often later recalled) yet they shudder at you taking NATURAL God made herbs and vitamins. Sadly gone are the days when a real doc would come to your house, solve your problem and NOT charge u 3 mos pay to do so.
sigh. Oh well!

Are you Celiac?? What is your interest in this, I'm curious myself how u made this connection.

-Celiac is a auto-immuno disease, often appears in europe, industriel countries
-Giardia is a tropical infectious disease. Name of the bacteria is giardia lamblia

You are right. Malaria as a cause of fever is also ignored.

Actually most doctors would be likely to assume Giardia before Celiac Disease...
at least where i am anyway.
Celiac disease is very very rare... one of my best friends has it, she wasnt diagnosed till 17.

the reason doctors usually diagnose Giardia first is because its curable!

my friend was diagnosed as epileptic amoung other things and at one point told she had a brain tumor. thats how bay her symptoms were because she was eating something everday she was allergic to (gluten).

Celiac disease symtoms are much more varied than that of Giardia. They include enema, blindness, fits and blackouts, keyloid (sorry bout my spelling) scarring and lots of other really bad stuff.
basically if a person is a celiac and stop eating gluten all these things clear up very quickly. scars which they have had since childhood suddenly start to heal up etc.

there is also a very simple test for celiac disease...

so its pretty obvious if someone has it or not.

i doupt anyone with giardia would be wrongly diagnosed with celiac disease and if they were then it would become obviouse they were mis diagnosed very quickly.

i should add that celiac disease is testing by an allergy test.
and also that i had giardia when i was about 11 and i was diagnosed and treated without any problems.
