Does anyone out there have celiac disease? |
i am 16 years old and have celiac disease.all i want is to make friends with people who have the disease or know someone with celiac so i have someone to talk to and share with.plz contact me email is charmingcc3@yahoo.com thnx so much! hello there - I have it! I'm 20 years old and have been dealing with it for almost 2 years...and let me tell you, it sucks not being able to eat 'normal' food, but you'll feel so much better when you don't! The hardest thing for me was adjusting my diet - you'll be surprised how much stuff has gluten in it, and how little subsitutes they have for it. The best thing I can tell you to do is to shop at your local common market or MOM store - anything that sells organic and health food will have a section on 'gluten free' food. Even Giant Eagle has a 'small' section now. You'll have to get use to the different tastes (I still cant eat glutten free bread, bagels and such - it tastes HORRIBLE) but corn meal flour is pretty ok. My friend has it...There are also a lot of celebrities that have it. Elizabeth Haselback from The View, Susie Essman from Curb Your Enthusiasm, as well as Heidi Collins, a CNN Anchor and her son are also Celiac. Hi- Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I have celiac disease and have a website full of fun and easy recipes. Many people leave comments on the site and it is a friendly place. |
