Cataract surgery?

Hi. my dad had an appointment for his first cataract to be removed last thursday. they wouldn't let people in the room with patients so i can't answer any questions that my dad has.
he says they made an incision in his eye, but doesn't know what else happened (my dad is hard of hearing so gets mixed up with what people say).
my question is, firstly he didn't get any eye drops to bring home, anyone know why this would be? also he still cannot see any better out of the eye after a week, should his sight be clearer now?
i don't want to bother the hospital so any help would be appreciated.

I had cataract surgery 10 days ago.. I have drops 1 drop 4 x daily. These are really important as they are antibiotic.
Ring the hospital as they have been remiss not giving you dad good info. Also written details/instructions are available, and should have been given to him.
He is so lucky having a caring daughter like you.
I would ring the hospital ward right now, if they do not respond take him to A and E. That's what I was told to do if I had problems and couldn't get any help.
My sight is a bit clearer, not very much, but this eye is lazy and I was told that I maynot see any great improvement. It sounds like your dad has not been given good advice on what to expect, so you could ask about that too.

idk know about gettin drops but he should have gotten some and if he cant see then he should go back to the dr that whats i would say cuz everyone gets dropps usaly and next time i would tell them that your dad cant hear and he gets things mixed up am sure that they would let you in there

Well I had one done in Sept & the other in Nov last year firstly I had two lots of drops to instil over four weeks

I had a telephone consultation the day after surgery to check I had no problems, and then an examination, after a couple of weeks.

I could see almost immediately with gradual improvement over time.

Don't worry about bothering staff get in touch with the unit which performed the surgery NOW your dad may have inflamation / infection which can compromise his sight

First off, has your dad seen the doctor since his eye surgery? If not, get him there immediately Patients should always be seen the day after surgery. Your dad should definitely be on drops after surgery! He needs an antibiotic to prevent infection and an anti-inflammatory to keep swelling in the eye down. This by the way may be the reason why he is seeing blurry. Perhaps your father, who you say is hard of hearing didn't realize they prescribed him drops.Lastly, why wouldn't you want to bother the hospital or the doctor who did thesurgery, it's your father's sight which is at stake!

dont be concerned about bothering the hospital, they're there to help, i would ring them and ask for advice , personally speaking i think he should be seeing perfectly well by now, maybe a little inflamation or infection but i would'nt worry too much, hope your dad is better soon shelly, good luck.
