Sick after cataract surgery...normal?

I had cataract surgery yesterday morning. I felt fine yesterday, but today I started feeling sick. Like I had a migraine... really bad headache, sick to my stomach. Should I be worried? My doctor has an emergency after hours number, but I feel stupid calling. Any suggestions?

Your reaction is not typical. I'm not sure why you have a migraine but it is probably unrelated to your surgery. Cataract surgery patients usually do not have too many issues after surgery which is they go home the same day.

There is certainly no harm in calling your doctor. Your doctor would be concerned with any problems which could be treated in a timely manner. You may be able to come up with a plan over the phone.

I'm a physician.
