Is it true that cataract surgery complications only happen 1 in 1000 times?

What are the chances of seeing visual disturbances after cataract surgery?

In the right expert and new technology (phaeco), we can eliminate the worse result.

Don't worry, try to get the best.

I don't know the exact numbers, but I know that it's a very common and safe procedure.

Like any surgery there is always a chance of unforseen complications.

But in general cataract surgery is just about the safest surgery done in modern medicine.

I know some surgeons who have a 99% success rate for years...but I also know a couple of them who seem to screw up at least 10%...

I don't know your statistics, but cataract surgery outcomes with better vision occur in 90% of surgeries.

I had both my eyes done just last year. I used to wear glasses for nearsightedness....now I don't need glasses & can see much more clearly. I had the operations about 2 months apart from 1 another. You have to use drops for about 1 month post surgery.

Google: medlineplus>>health topics>>cataract.

I don't know the stats, but I know that it is very safe procedure.

Some people have complications because their eyes are in such bad shape that the operation makes worse something that was there before.

If you are contemplating surgery, get your doctor to explain your eye condition and what the chances of having complications. Ask the usual questions: how many has she done? how many have had complications?

If you have had the surgery and are having problems, go back and see your doctor immediately.

Good luck

Your chances of post-op complications depend on your specific situation, and your Dr.

Some things that can raise your risk of complication are: corneal problems, large pupils, high myopia, diabetes, etc.

Permanent visual problems following cataract surgery are very rare, less than 5% in the United States.

I had cataract surgery when I was 17, that was over 23 years ago. It was the best thing, I've ever had. Medical science has come so far that your chances are very, very slim that you'll have any complications. Today, the surgery is much more advanced. Talk with your doctor and get a second opinion. I wish you luck. 2D
