Cat scratch fever? |
What are diseases of cat scratch fever and signs for infectious? I have fear of be contaminate for it. Please forgive English for it's difficult of me. Hi Kim. Try and relax, cat scratch is unpleasant but manageable. I had it and here are the symptoms I experienced. My lymph nodes in my under arm and elbow swelled and itched, I had a fever and was fatigued. There are other symptoms that can occur, but they are very rare. Worst case senario is that you will have a lymph node abcess (like I did) and the Dr. will have to go in and slice it open and clean it out. Tell your Dr. your symptoms and that you have recently been scratched by an animal that was possibly contaminated, he should put you on levaquin or something stronger. Good luck and hope you feel better. Cat scratch fever is more likely to be transmitted by a kitten than by a mature cat. A small bump develops at the site of the scratch, followed by swollen lymph nodes in that region, usually in about 2 weeks. The node or nodes are moderately tender, warm, with some firmness of the skin around them. Frequently they may burst and spill out pus, or the doctor may determine to lance the node to let it drain. |
