A scratch as turned into a red lump, why?

I was scratched by my cat when about a year ago. He doesn't have any diseases etc. This little scratch has turned in to a reed lump. It looks like a spot, but it isn'.t What do you think it is?

Maybe there was some kitty litter on the claws when your cat scratched you and it is now in your skin...idunno
