Has anyone ever been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome? If so, what were your symptoms?

I believe that I have carpal tunnel syndrome and I wanted to compare symptoms to the ones that I am experiencing.

My sister has it and her symptoms are numbness in the fingers, pain in her hands, tingling in the fingers. Her pain is so bad sometimes she cant even hold a brush to brush her hair, she has to wear a splint and will soon have to have surgery...

I have it; I'm a bass player. At times my hands will shut off and the way I get through it is will-power.I have to shake my hands and move my position around. Burning, a feeling of weight, like holding cast iron. Sometimes I'll be like reaching, and >TWANG< the most intense pain will hit me,OUCH! Report It

I had pregnancy related carpal tunnel syndrome. I would get a weird shocky, springy feeling that would start at my wrist and travel up my arm when I straightened out my arm or moved my arm too quick. It was a very weird sensation and it did hurt. You get carpal tunnel if you do a lot of work with your hands & wrists like typing, using the mouse, etc. Mine, luckily, went away after I had the baby. I had a friend who had surgery on both wrists for carpal tunnel.

Carpal tunnel sydrome occurs when there is too much pressure exerted on the nerve in the wrist. It is often cause by repetitive movements. Symptoms include numbness, aching and tingling in the hand and fingers.

Yes, tingling in the wrist, dropping things, numbness in hands, swelling. DO NOT have the surgery!!! I did and it didn't work.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a specific group of symptoms that can include tingling, numbness, weakness, or pain in the fingers, thumb, hand, and occasionally in the arm. These symptoms occur when there is pressure on the median nerve within the wrist.

The carpal tunnel is a small space or "tunnel" in the wrist formed by the wrist bones (carpal bones) and a ligament (transverse carpal ligament). The median nerve and several tendons pass through the carpal tunnel from the forearm to the hand. The tendons are surrounded by tubes of tissue (tendon sheaths). The median nerve controls some movements of the thumb, and this nerve supplies feeling to most of the thumb and to the index finger, middle finger, and part of the ring finger.
