Is it possible to have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in your shoulder? |
I am 35 years old and I work as an Office Manager. I know that I have early symptoms of Carpal in my Right hand. I have recently started getting severe pain in my right shoulder. It is not in the joint but closer to my neck on the back side near the muscles. It hurts worse as the day goes on and it hurts intensley after I get home from work. Any suggestions on what this could be or how to start looking for answers without having to go to the doctors yet! You do not have carpal tunnel syndrome in your right shoulder. Carpal tunnel is the area from your forearm to your hand, specifically a space in the wrist. I suspect that the pain in your shoulder is due to strain, possibly from the way you sleep or posture while you're at your desk, so you may want to change those habits first, perhaps switching to a contour pillow that gives you better neck support. You may also want to change the way you sit at work, make sure that your shoulders are not raised when you are using the computer, so you may need to elevate your chair, make your keyboard higher, etc. carpal tunnel syndrome is only in the wrists, the pain in your right shoulder sounds as if you have pulled a muscle,or it may be your posture when sitting, try voltarol gel rubbed into affected area. your shoulder And neck are hurting from over use. put a heating pad on the area for twenty minutes. Afterwards massage an analgesic cream into the areas of pain . this should relax the muscles and help you feel better. Take Advil tablets three to four times daily. You might not actually have carpal tunnel. Wrsit pain often gets diagnosed as carpal tunnel sydrome, even though the problem is coming from the neck, rather than the wrist. A neck problem can cause pain in the neck, should or any where in the upper extremity. It sounds like you might have something going on with your neck, which is causing pain in your upper traps. Your best bet is to see a spine surgeon who can order an MRI and see if something is going on in your neck. Good luck! |
