What can I do to prevent myself from getting carpal tunnel syndrome? |
I absolutely love knitting. I recently did alot of knitting for holiday gifts and now my hands are sore. I think I've got a case of tendonitis but now I'm concerned about getting carpal tunnel. I may even have the beginnings of it. How can I prevent it and still do my favorite hobby? go to the doctor. make sure to massage your hands a lot and take advil to relieve the pains. I am no doctor, but I think I would try using a wrist band of some sort, to give support to the wrist, and maybe lay off the knitting for a short period of time, so as not doing it daily. Daily repetition, doing the same thing over and over will definitely cause carpal tunnel if you do it long enough. But I definitely would check with your doctor for expert advise. Maybe doing some stretching excercises for the hand and wrist,, and even your arms might help. Take frequent breaks and do hand exercises. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/arthrit... |
