There is a diagnostic test that will determine true carpal tunnel syndrome. It is called EMG/NCV, or nerve conduction study. If it is true carpal tunnel syndrome, conservative measures will give temporary relief, but surgery is usually the answer to complete pain relief.

First, be sure it is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome! About 50% of the time it is misdiagnosed. If it is actually a myofascial pain syndrome or Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, then massage techniques targeting these conditions can be very beneficial.
