What is a Carotid Endarterectomy ?

What is a Carotid Endarterectomy ?

Basically a roto-rooter job on your carotid arteries.

Simply put, it is like roto rooter of the carotid arteries to open them up.

they remove part of the carotid artery (which is i the neck).
its performed when the carotid artery has > 70 % senosis (narrowing), so that it removes the risk of having a stroke.(the cause of the narrowing is deposition of plaques n the wall of the carotid artery, these plaques may detach & travel to the brain causing a stroke).

I am guessing it is something you don't want to have or a mispelled medical condition.....get the Peptol Bismal and pass the Tums...!!!

this operation, is the removal of plaque build up from the carotid artery. it is a very delicate procedure with the potential for brain damage, and during the post op recovery phase it is important that a neurological assessment is carried out to see if any damage has been done.

Carotid endarterctomy is a surgery on the artery that restores blood to the brian.
