The caregiver-client relatinoship list the things you do for client that support his health and well-being? im a cna workin in home care heres the things we do" Allow the client as much control over his life as possible and encourage him to be as independent as his condition allows. Don't do things for him/her that he can do himself. Encourage him to talk about anything that is bothering him or that he needs answers to. Don't minimize his concerns. Ask health care professionals for answers about health concerns. A note of caution is that caregiver burnout runs high. Make sure you have respite care at intervals so that you don't burn out. To do this orient others like family members and friends to his care needs while you are gone. I cannot stress this need enough. You may feel you can do it all alone. Believe me, in my home health care position I have seen it over and over again, the burnout of caregivers who do not accept respite care. Your local town, county, or state agencies and other private agencies offer respite care free or at a reduced cost in some cases. Call an area home health agency, library or chamber of commerce for information on how to get in touch with these organizations. |
