You do not need to be an RN or LPN to do homecare for a hospice client. As far as paid homecare is concerned, you would need to be at least a CNA/HHA. These days certification is needed for any type of hands on nursing care. As far as volunteer there are many hospice organizations out there that offer the training as an adult ed course. I took one myself about 10 yrs ago through a local hospice organization, that was connected with a home health agency. If you let me know what state you are in, I can find out for you what is available in your area.

For as I work for Hospice, I am a home health aid. The qualifications for my job were STNA certification, and min 2 years as working as a STNA. Report It

Depends on the state your in. Most require at least an LPN (LVN or Practical Nurse) but many, due to the handling of pain medications, require at least a Registered Nurse (RN)

Pay varies depending on your job.
