i'm a general dentist and i'll make around 300k this year. i have friends that make quite a bit more and quite a bit less.

i'd stick with general rather than spinning wheels in the mud while trying to become a specialist. dentistry is getting easier and easier so that a general dentist can pretty much do anything that a specialist can do. specialist absolutely hate to hear this cause it means they are left with the most difficult cases and biggest pain in the butt patients.
