How does the careers advice, C.A.B, GP's and Therapeutic counselling fit into a wide supportive network?

How does the careers advice, C.A.B, GP's and Therapeutic counselling fit into a wide supportive network?

If a person is going through change / dilemmas in their life (or needs counselling, because there is something wrong but they don't know what etc), they turn up at a counsellors door. During the counselling, they identify the issues that are causing distress in their day to day life. A client who goes for counselling can arrive feeling very disempowered. If the therapy goes well - they start to identify issues in their life that they need to address. Careers advice / CAB can offer independent practical advice (that you can't find in a counselling session, as their role is to help you find your own answers). GP could have referred to counselling initially.

Thats one way of looking at it.

Another way is that those areas provide different kinds of support to a person - all offer an independent / empathic ear with the aim to help the person get back on their feet. Families / friends (who are also part of the supportive network) rarely come without their own opinions and advice - some of it well-meaning, some of it negative - not all of it in the interests of the person. If a person goes to careers, CAB, GP, counselling - they can have specialist input on employment, debt or housing management, physical and emotional health.

I waffled on - but hope it helps!
