If I start my medical career as an EMT where could a job like that need me?I want to eventually go to college.

I know an EMT can eventually become a paramedic, but what after that, do I step up to a physician or. If you could give me a list of careers in the medical field and a brief description I would be very grateful (and give you 10 points.)

There are 3 levels of emt. You go to school and get emt basic, emt immediate, and then emt advanced. After that, you have to go get paramedic training to become a paramedic. Paramedic school will take about 1 year. After that, you really can't move up.

If you want to be a doctor, you have to go to college and get a 4 yr bachelor's degree. You will have to take 1yr physics, 1yr bio, 1yr chem, 1 yr organic chem, 1yr chemistry, and either calculus or statistics. A few med schools in the U.S also require biochem. If you get accepted to a med school, it will take about 4 yrs to finish. Then, you need to do a residency for 3 yrs or more. The residency is 3 yrs if you want to be a general practitioner type of doctor, and even longer than 3 yrs if you want to specialize.

You could also be a nurse. You can become a RN (registered nurse) and then become an ARNP (nurse practitioner). Nurse practitioners are allowed to prsecribe medications under the supervision of a doctor. You wil have to go to college for this too.

Another option is Physician Assistant. You will have to go to college for 4 yrs, take classes like chem, bio, and physics, and then apply to Physician Assistant school. Phys Assistant school takes about 2 yrs. Phys Assistants can also treat patients and prescribe meds under supervision of a doctor.

I hope this helps. There are many options for you to choose from, you just have to be willing to do the work to get there.

Good luck!

Be an EMT while pursuing your studies (self supporting). Good luck.

Try getting a job near a medical college so you can eventually decide which direction you would like to take your medical career.Good luck to you and god bless your courage and compassion. My daughter is an EMT.
