I am thinking of a career in medicine. Going to college in the fall. Need some help deciding some things. Thx.

Can you list the pros and cons of different jobs and specialties please? I am really trying to figure out waht I want but I havent been able to hear why I should want to be a surgean or a opthamologist or whatever (those arent my top two just two random ones). I want to help people, but also I want something that will be interesting everyday. I need advice, help, something to guide me in a direction whether that be nursing or pediatrics.
So please list pros and cons of different medical careers. Nothing that has to do with just lab work and stuff like that. Money isnt an issue as well as education time.
Thank you.

These days, almost any career in the medical field is a fantastic idea, since all of the 'baby boomers' are reaching retirement age. Bearing that in mind--- a specialty in both nursing and as a physician is geriatrics. Both obstetrics and geriatrics are always a constant-- people are born and people get old. Forensics is also always in need-- people die and autopsies are done, or persons are needing to be declared dead. But as I said in the beginning-- the medical field is huge... and you can travel overseas and work with charities. You really need to consider what exactly you would want to do career wise, as there just isn't time or room to tell you all of the information you are seeking! Reaserch around on the net!

Well it depends on what your looking for If you become a nurse you wont have to go to as much school.Becoming a docter takes alot of work and hard hrs,If you are a docter you need to decided if you want to treat people for a long period of time like a family docter.Or a surgen who meets people take them to surgery and fix them do a bit of fallow up care and most of the time you wont ever see them again.Surgens need to be good with there hands and have to deal with alot of blood and orgens. Are you better with kids or adults? You need to be very strong to be an orthopedic Doc.The best Idea would be to get a list of possibilitys and then do alot of research on them and maybe see if you can job shawdow a few diffrent types of docs and nurses or evan just go and speak with them and see what the job is really about.Good luck hope I could help
