Can cardiomyopathy be cured by surgery?

my bf has cardiomyopathy and next month, they're going to new york to check with a doctor or probably have surgery.one thing more,he said his heart got allergic to something and when it happens,he experiences chest pain and shortness of breath.is there anyway we can prevent it? thank you.

"Cardiomyopathy (KAR-de-o-mi-OP-a-the) refers to diseases of the heart muscle. These diseases have a variety of causes, symptoms, and treatments. In cardiomyopathy, the heart muscle becomes enlarged or abnormally thick or rigid. In rare cases, the muscle tissue in the heart is replaced with scar tissue."

Surgical treatment options include
Septal Myomectomy - where the tissue is removed from the septum of the heart to improve blood flow within the heart.

Pacemaker - this is used to establish a regular heart rhythm in the diseased heart.

Heart Transplant - where the heart from a dead donor is used to replace the diseased heart.

An invasive but non-surgical option is a alcohol septal ablation - where alcohol is injected into the thickened area of heart muscle. The tissue shrink post ablation and this increases the blood flow withing the heart.

As for his allergic reaction - I am not really sure what you mean, but the symptoms could describe what is known as a cardiac arrhythmia. This is where the heart either beats too fast, too slow or in an irregular fashion.

I hope that you bf gets the answers he is looking for when he sees his specialist.
Kind regards,
