Cardiomyopathy and the lapband sugery ??

i am just curious if anyone or do you know of anyone who has had the lapband surgery and have cardiomyopathy? i have cardiomyopathy and my dr is not doing anything to help me loose weight she even told me she did not think i could have the surgery but i beg to differ she won't even send me to a dietian to help me so i am doing this on my own. my cardiologist agrees i need to loose weight but they say i can't be put to sleep i hope someone can help me

Go to another GP and ask them for a referal to a surgeon who specialises in Lapband procedures and discuss this with them - they will probably ask you to see the anaethetist and have a cardio work up.
Most people having lapband do have to see a cardiologist prior to surgery so perhaps your doctors are correct and you can not have an anaesthetic, but surely you can at least see a dietician. If this GP won't give you are referal to a dietician go to another GP!

I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy in 1996. Your doctor is most likely wrong. I had my tonsils removed 7 years ago, 4 years after I was diagnosed. Make an appointment with a doctor who specializes in the lapband, don't take your primary care physician's word. Also, if he/she isn't giving you advice to loose weight nor send you to a dietitian, find another doctor. At the very least you should see a dietitian to learn about low sodium eating. also you need to find a cardiologist who is used to seeing patients who have cardiomyopathy.
