Is ideopathic cardiomyopathy controlable and with what prognosis or medications?

I was diagnosed with ideopathic cardiomyopathy after lots of tests and even the Gold Standard heart cath (which showed no blockage)last year but now I feel fine. They say I have an irregular heart beat, and heart murmer and have been put on digoxin, and plavix...I really need a second opinion...I am only 53 years old.Good cholesterol, and BP; heart rste a little elevated-80-85.

They tested you for mechanical and electrical issues. I bet they did not test you for biochemical imbalances. If they did, they will be able to answer a few simple questions, such as:

1) What is your RBC Magnesium level?
2) What is your Coenzyme -Q level?
3) What are your various fatty acid levels?
4) What are your heavy metal levels (lead, mercury, cadmium, etc.)
5) What is your taurine level (an amino acid critical to heart health)?

There are plenty of other 'questions' they should be able to answer for you. If they cannot, they have not done a 'thorough' work-up.

There is an excellent new book available by Sherry Rogers, M.D. called: "The High Blood Pressure Hoax" that explains in detail the many, many biochemical causes of cardiovascular problems (including cardiomyopathy). Much of the medical research discussed in the book is not studied by medical doctors, which is why they don't test you for these common causes.

The last time I checked, the book was not yet available from Amazon.com, but you can order it from the publisher at 1-800-846-6687 ($25). I highly recommend this book if you have the intelligence and motivation to explore the underlying causes of your condition. (note: the term 'idiopathic' means 'the doctor doesn't know the cause'.)

Best wishes and good luck.

this is how my dad died. keep doing what you're doing and you'll be fine. keep going to the doctors. my dad didnt go often and thats probably what killed him

One of the available options besides medical treatment is to check if you are a candidate for RESYNCHRONIZATION THERAPY, this usually requires your undergoing a test called tissue-doppler imaging done by echocardiography, if you are a candidate then an implantable device is used that helps increase ejection fraction markedly in correctly chosen subjects.
This is besides your medical ttt which if you say you had a normal coronary angiogram should include:
1. An ACE inhibitor titrated to its maxiaml dose.
2. Carvedilol, Bisoprolol or Metoprolol titrated to their maximal dose.
3. Aldactone 25mg/day
4. Lanoxine 0.125mg/day.

As for the irregular heart beat you have to be mpore specific to what it is!
