Has any body had a baby after having postpartum dilated cardiomyopathy?

I just wanted to know if any women out there had this problem. You see I was diagnosed at the age of 23 after having my 3rd child. I developed this condition during the last trimester of pregnancy. My 3rd child was born through c section because she was too big. She was 81/2 pounds she was my biggest baby. My first was 6 pounds my second was 7 pounds.

A month and a half after having my 3rd. I had a hard time breathing I finally went to the ER. They said I had water in my lungs and my feet and legs were swollen. They said my heart had an irregular heart beat. One part of my hart was twice it's size. Because it working too hard to pump. They kept me there or 3 or 4 days. The ran all kinds of test on me. They had me connected to this small machine to monitor my heart. They had me on the tred mill. They told me I have high blood pressure and postartum dilated cardiomyopathy. They say it's pregnany related. They told me I shouldn't have any more kids. I'm fine now my heart is normal.

I am ok now but stll have high blood pressure. They have scaned my heart and it's fine. They saw I should get my tubes tied. But I still want another child in the future. It tears me a part that I shouldn't have any more kids. I was thinking about letting my body rest. My last child is now going on 6. I was think about having another one when she 10 or 11. Has any women had this problem? When a doctor tell you shouldn't but you did and you turned out alright? Thanks

If you were to get pregnant again you would again put stress on your heart and risk going into heart failure. The mortality rate for dilated cardiomyopathy is 25-50%. That an awful big risk to take.

I have heart failure which includes an enlarged left ventricle / cardiomyopathy. Everything I have read indicates that the enlargement cannot correct itself (shrink).

I suggest you have the hard talk about having another child with your Cardiologist. It might be perfectly OK or you might have three babies without a Mama.

Heart failure is deadly. Be very careful.
