How does Cardiomyopathy affect you?

Is it possible to work full time with this condition? Did your's improve? What is there to expect? I got diagnoised, and get partial answers from my doctors.

You get partial answers because not much is known about this condition. There are so many variables that the resultant is difficult to be specifically found.

It is good that this has been found out, so that whatever corrective actions are possible can be initiated.

The situation may not be alarming, since the doctors are not telling you so, which they will if something major was wrong.

You may have irregular heart beats (Arrhythmia), experience shortness of breath, or tiredness.

Certain type of physical activities may be out of bounds.

Whether you can hold a full time job or not depends on the extent of the weakness.

In the meantime accept that you have a potentially harmful condition. You may have to also accept that there is no cure as of now for this but only palliative therapy.

While there may be no cure, there are devices like Left Ventricular Assist Devices, which can offer some relief in advanced conditions, which God willing may not materialize.

Take time out regularly, every day to meditate to calm yourself and build up your inner strength.

Diligently follow your doctor's prescribed regimen. Get a second and third opinion if you feel like.

See another doctor.

That's a tough question to answer. There are three types of cardiomyopathy: restrictive, dilated, and hypertrophic. Factors such as your ejection fraction or how much blood is being pumped out of your heart come into play. Some people end up needing transplants. Individuals with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy often are no longer allowed to play competitive sports because of risk of sudden death. It is really tough to give you any definitive answers with out knowing the type you have, how your heart is functioning, and how much of your heart is affected. Your doctors can't tell you exactly what is going to happen because they don't want to lie to you. Since you just got diagnosed you probably will be seeing a cardiologist and getting more tests. Hopefully in time they can give you a better idea of what to expect.
