What is cardiomyopathy? "Cardiomyopathy is a serious disease in which the heart muscle becomes inflamed and doesn't work as well as it should. There may be multiple causes including viral infections. Cardiomyopathy literally means heart muscle disease but by convention it is used to describe heart disease resulting from a primary abnormality in the myocardium. in simple terms, the heart (a muscle) begins to atrophise (become dormant), and in time (could be years if detected early, if later then months) death will occur :( |
