Could heartrate of 220 be normal? |
I have cardiomyopathy and an internal defibrillator. I was at my nephews birthday party yesterday and was being fairly active playing with the little kids. My defibrillator shocked me 2 times and i passed out. They called 911, and i was taken to the hospital. When they read the info off the AICD, it said my heartrate was between 190-220 for about 7 minutes. They said its hard to tell (only one lead AICD) but it looked like SVT not VT, so it was just high from me being active. I have an appt with my cardiologist for this week, but im wondering...is it possible for it to be normal that my HR would be over 200 just from playing with some toddlers? My hr is usually like 65-70 with the medicine they have me on. Definately sounds like SVT and not VT. Your heart wouldn't have been in VT for 7 minutes. i didnt even know the heart could beat that fast..i get panicy when mine goes over 100 If it was VT, see your doc. Call your Cardiologist and request to be seen ASAP! A persons heart will eventually not be able to keep up with that many beats per minute, and when it will no longer be able to keep up it will stop! I doubt it was VT, and if you say that your normal HR is between 65-70, then it is a little weird it got to 220 that easily. Good thing you have an appt with your Dr. Good luck! No, it should never get that high during normal exertion. That is an absolute NO. Nothing should bring your HR up to 220. Some people while exercising get their heart rate high, like 160, but that is vigorous exercise. But not just playing around a little. Your defibrillator might need to be repaired. Like maybe rewiring ect. Normal is 60 bpm - 100bpm. Anywhere between those rates are normal. I pray you find its something simple, and all is well. lose weight. |
