Any opinions on Fortuna, Randall S MD - Illinois Cardiac Surgery Association in Peoria, IL?

My baby has an unknown lesion on the chest, he's 5 month old. I have every confidence in his partner. not very impressed with the office scheduling has taken 2 weeks to schedule and still am not sure if we are correctly setup for all tests and surgery. I am just a concerned mom feeling a little unsettled.

I understand your concerns but scheduling problems should not be a reflection of the competence of a surgeon,it only goes to show that his office manager may not be doing their job correctly but it may also show that the Dr is just so much in demand that he is extrememly booked up. . . .I am sure that if your baby's conditon was life threatening, you would have gotten in ALOT sooner.
Having not been to this doctor before I am sure that the office has a protocol per the Dr instruction that no tests be arranged until he has actually seen the patient.
Drs know what they are doing and so do the people who help him do the lesion removal.
Generally speaking,no tests except blood work would be necessary to just go into the operating room and remove a lesion.
Testing would occur afterwards in the pathology department where they will determine what kind of lesion your child has.
Having been an OR Technician as well as an Office Assistant I dont think you have anything to worry about.

I have a congenital heart defect called tri-cuspid atersia. I don't know anything about the dr. you mentioned but I did have open heart surgery at the age of 5 in Chicago at the university hospital there. I'm 42 now have had 3 open heart surgeries and if I were U I'd get a second opinion. Follow your gut and heart and if you decide to pursue a cardiologist there you would be in great hands as the university of Chicago children's hospital specializes in heart diseases in children--god bless and best of luck to your little one!
