Has any one had Cardiac surgery , and have their breastbone snap, pop, and crack, and feel like it's shifting.

I had Cardiac bypass surgery 7 weeks ago.seems as if my Sternum is not healing properly.Along with the snap,crackle pop , I am having severe bouts of depression.
Doesanyone have a happilly ever after tale that might address my condition? Please

I under went chest surgery in Jan. where I had my sterum cut. I find that I still crack and snap and depending on the weather depends on if I hurt more. The depression comes with the surgery and not being able to do anything. It is a form of having your independence taken away and that in it self is hard. I still have days where I'm feeling somewhat depressed too. Talk to your doctor if you find it is getting worse, otherwise they have told me that it could take up to 1 yrs to fully heal.

I've not had bypass surgery, but when you think about it, your breastbone was opened and wired back together. There are times when the sternum doesn't heal well, but by and large, there aren't complications.

Right now, it's a broken bone and it'll need time to heal; they probably told you not to drive for ________ weeks. Not because you're not safe on the road, but because you're much more likely to get injured.

My Uncle had bypass surgery some years back and like most people has healed well. However, my uncle isn't YOU. If you have concerns about YOU and your healing, it's only fair to you to address them with your doc.

The depression is also 'normal?' This is your HEART, not a tooth, not toe; but the very center of your being that was operated on and it can be very frightening. Happily ever after does happen; but tell the doctor your concerns and be patient. 7 weeks is too soon after.

The rice crispy sounds that you hear, though disconcerting, are healing bone. Make sure that there is no drainage from the incision and not redness.
