What are some complications POST SURGERY OF CARDIAC STENT SURGERY?

What are some complications POST SURGERY OF CARDIAC STENT SURGERY?

The placement of stents in the cardiac arteries is usually uneventful and safe.

There are possible complications, however.

Risks include bleeding and damage to one the arteries. It's possible that a patient could require emergency surgery to repair the damage.

It is also possible that during the procedure, the doctor will discover that the problem cannot safely be fixed with stenting, and might recommend bypass surgery instead.

My husband had a stent put in with no ill effects what so ever. There is to be expected a huge bruise in the groin area which will slowly fade away. He had the stent put in on Friday and was back to work on Monday. You must leave the bandage on the place of entry for twenty four hours to keep the pressure on so you won't bleed. As in any surgeries, there are risks but I know many many people who have had stents with wonderful results. Just expect the bruise! The doctors have the stent procedure down to a fine art! You will feel soooo much better! Good luck!
