Is it common to experience sleeplessness following cardiac by-pass surgery? |
My husband is 1 1/2 weeks post-op and is awake most of the night, sleeping a lot during the day. Yes. One of the common medications is called a beta blocker and this makes you very tired. Get him to discuss with his Dr taking the medication at night instead of in the morning. He is still recuperating don't forget and that takes energy. Just eb thankful that he is having sleepless nights Yes, insomnia is common after by-pass. For me it was the meds - and after 12 years I still don't sleep very well at night. |
