Anyone have cardiac ablation have good results with it?

I'm thinking of having a cardiac ablation as my heart goes into SVT (a rate of 160+) where I get lightheaded and weak. I know the risks are alot lower now with improved techniques, but I want to ensure that it is a risk worth taking. I had a friend whose mitral valve was messed up by an ablation surgery, and he's had to have open heart twice now.

My heart problem is something electrical which can't be fixed without an ablation or medications. Natural remedies can't solve my problem. I've already been avoiding caffine, getting plenty of sleep, etc. I don't know when it will start into it's fast rhythm, and it is dangerous during my job to have it do that.

If your symptoms are not being controlled with medications, then an Ablation procedure should definitely be considered. It can offer a cure, not just a treatment. The risks are now lower with improved mapping systems and equipment.
But what is equally important is that you find an experienced Electrophysiologist. Your cardiologist can refer you to someone, but also do some research on your own. I would not choose someone who is fresh out of a fellowship. I would look around for someone with at least a few years of experience, and who works with other electrophysiologists in their group.
I also have not heard of any ablations causing Mitral Valve problems. The majority of arrythmias originate in the right side of the heart, and the mitral valve separates the left atrium and ventricle. Even when there is a left sided pathway, the "burning" usually takes place above the valve. Your friend is a very rare case.
You can find more information at the Heart Rhythm Society webpage.
Good Luck :o)

why dont u just see a herbalist or homeopath??

some people fix heart problems themselves -
take 6 cayenne pepper capsules 4 times a day
drink 2-3 cups of green tea a day
drink aloe vera juice with cranberry or blueberry
eat black or purple grapes for 6 weeks
take olive leaf extract

absolutely avoid yeast bread, canola, cheese, marg, butter, fried food, sugar, processed foods, meats, pig meat

AVOID ANY CHEMICAL PRODUCT (dish detergent & shampoo etc) AVOID ANY ANIMAL OR GIVE THEM OLIVE LEAF EXTRACT DAILY

My 8 year old son has SVt as well, and an ablation was recommended ... we are hesitating on that - same reasons as you .....
I took him to a Naturopath for something else, and mentioned this to her, she treated him and has significantly reduced the number of episodes he has. Last year he had about 4-5 per month, this year he has had 3 in total since January!

I am not all holistic and granola (not that there's anything wrong with that) but I sincerely believe that whatever she did has had an impact on his condition.
