Can anyone tell me anywhere I can find out information on how having Kawasaki's as a child might affect a teen |
My son was diagnosed with Kawasaki's at the age of two. His was a complicated case with a recurrence and a cardiac aneurysm. I'm trying to locate information as to whether or not having the disease as a child could put him at risk for neurological complications. He is struggling so hard in school right now, and I have to wonder if perhaps there might be a biological or neurological reason. He had a sustained high temp. for several weeks due to two initial misdiagnosis, and after the first treatment with the intravenous gamma globulin, he had a recurrence of the symptoms, fever and all. Any help in learning if there has been any research done on the long term complications of the disease in teens would be so very much appreciated. Thank You. Research show that kids with KD are at risk for more heart problems later on in life. I didn't see anything about neuro problems. my son had it too started when he was 20 months, he's 6 1/2 now and currently having issues n school among other neurological conditions including abnormal seizure disorder, & lesions on his brain, developmental issues. The DRs at Children's Boston say not related. |
