I want to organize a walk in the Boston area to raise money for CHD, but I don't know where to start!? |
I was born with TGV a type of congenital heart disease. I am now 28 and growing into adulthood I am realizing how little research has been done on adults with CHD. When children used to be born with CHD after having corrective surgery they were cnsidered "cured". They are now realizing 20+ years later that adulthood brings on a whole new set of problems. I am living with this now. As I age my heart is growing weaker and I am developing arrythmias that I have never had before. The doctors can't tell my what lies ahead of me, another open heart surgery, a heart transplant, sudden death by cardiac arrest...They have no idea because this is really the first "generation" of children living into adulthood. This for me is a very scary thought~the unknown. I really want to organize a walk in the Boston area to raise $$$ for research on adults with CHD so no one else has to live their life in the dark. I just don't know how to get started. If you have any information for me it would be great!!! Contact the local chapter of the American Heart Association. They may be able to tell you how to get started, what permits you need, etc. If not them, then talk to the City of Boston - information desk. They should be able to tell you what departments you need clearance from (fire, police, etc) to get you started. I would you like to to read about glyconutrients. It may help your body heal as with countless others around the world. Call your local newspapers and write letters to them as well, call radio stations, newspapers, etc. |
