Vicodin cardiac arrest? |
my father eats vicodin. he rushed to the hospital this morning with chest pains & difficulty breathing, his cholesterol & blood pressure have been great for the past year. like i said he eats vics on a daily basis. wondering if the vicodin could cause cardiac arrest. thanks for the info. ( doctors wouldn't even talk to me... wow) In some rare cases acetaminophen (the other half of Vicodin) has been linked to heart problems, but it's unlikely. Opioids, in this case hydrocodone, isn't a likely culprit either. But one nevers knows for sure. You didn't mention his age, but "silent" heart disease is common in middle-aged men. He has to reevaluate his life, diet, exercise routine, etc. and make some healthy changes. One of the best advice is for him to examine why he's taking a narcotic pain reliever for a year and look for other ways to relieve pain. Would not surprise me in the least if it did!! That stuff is way nasty stuff. |
