My brother in law is dying...had cardiac arrest, is unconsious, and?

they had a hard time putting needles in him...so they went in his neck...It is worse that i am saying...i am just unable to verbalize what is all going on...He is in CCU....Should i ask for tomorrow off of work????...even though it is A SHORT NOTICE...and they want a longer notice...but this just came on all of a sudden...The fires in CA did NOT help his situation..What can i say to my boss????.

tell your boss that you have a family emergency and be with your family. family is the most important thing

Tell the boss the truth. Sounds like you yourself need some help.

Tell your boss family comes first no matter what.

well since it's your brother in law i don't think they'll let you out of work. you don't know if he's dying or not. he may make it out ok. just wait and see.

Tell your boss the truth I am sure they will understand, I am very sorry to hear this and hope your brother in law can be saved. Goodluck and godbless

This would most certainly qualify for leave from work. If your boss cant understand this, then tough for him leave anyway.

it is a family emergency, however, would you be able to take more time off should he pass. (have faith, he can pull thru)

It is rough when something like this happens. Just tell them....when I have a job I ALWAYS put my family first even if it isnt immediate family. They should understand...its a family emergency it sounds like he is in very critical condition! Hope everything is ok. Prayer always helps.

Family is family and you should not have any trouble taking off to be there for your brother in law, and moreimportantly- your sister! Tell your boss you have a family emergency- that should be enough. I know about these things having lost my brother and mother in the last 3yrs

Good Luck

Give him the hospital and your brother-in-laws name so if he doesn't feel your being honest he can check it out. Giving him this information will let him know the situation is serious and u need time off.

Obviously you're close to your brother in law, or to someone close to him. And this health crisis is frightening for you. Absolutely you should take the day off tomorrow if need be. Just tell the truth to your employer. Some employers are heartless to this type of thing, so I'm hoping yours is understanding.

As a boss, I find that allowing flexibility for my employees in times of need results in increased productivity. You tend to feel better about your job knowing that we would stand by you in a time like you describe.

But of course, everything has limitations and people try to take advantage sometimes. Just be honest with your boss. He should understand.

Get your tail over to be with your sister and family. Tell your boss exactly what you wrote here. If its a decent place to work, then they'll help you deal with this.

If you get a bad time about it, you can find a better job. Then let me know, and I'll nuke that co on the net for you.

I would definitely call off of work. Something like this is way more important than work. Family always comes first. I will pray for you and your family!!
