My sister ( 26 years old) had a tumor since 4years ago in hre neck that was diagnosed adeno custic carcinoma of submandibulary gland, and excised compeletly 2 month.ago.The tumor was 3x4 cm and encapsulated whit low pleomorphism &mitosis whit no perinoural infilteration.some vascular invation were seen.regional lymph nodes are intact and spiral C.T.scan was normal from skull base to diaphragm. Her doctor advise a local radiotherpy and then long time consevation. Please tell me more about tratment and prognosis Sounds about right. Her doctor is doing the right treatment plan. Adenocystic Carcinoma of the Salivary gland is a malignant tumor of the salivary gland. It can have invasion of the nerves around it (perineural invasion) or the vessles around it (perivascular invasion). This makes it difficult to completely excise and therefore after surgery local radiation therapy is recommended. After that regular follow up and chest x-ray is done for decades. The reason is because sometimes they show up 10-20 years later in the lung or the bones. As a result your sister will have to continously see her doctor. The 10 year survival is qouted in the literature as about 65%. The 15 year survival is qouted as 12%. This is because of it's slow growing nature. So it is important for your sister to follow the recommendations of radiation therapy and close long time observation and at least yearly chest x-ray. If the tumor was completely excised and there was no evidence of metastases to lymph nodes or elsewhere, I think her five year survival should be good. We discuss cancer cures in five year terms. Sounds as though she had thorough treatment. glyconutrients are what you need and fast! I am sorry but this is not answering your question but could you please tell me if this is what you are talking about? I have these lumps on my neck, mandible glands I think they are called,my salivary ducts are blocked. My doctor told me to suck on a lemon which I did, should I seek other doctor. So sorry to cut in. |
