Should I worry about carbon monoxide poisoning?

Should I worry about carbon monoxide poisoning, even with a new furnace? Just trying to rule out causes of lightheadedness while at home, etc....

The earliest symptoms, especially from low level exposures, are often non-specific and readily confused with other illnesses, typically flu-like viral syndromes, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, and migraine or other headaches. Later, there would be light-headedness, nausea, dizziness, etc. Do you have a detector in your home? I suggest that you buy one at any hardware store. Carbon monoxide leakage can be from a variety of sources--your gas furnace, gas water heater, gas range and oven, gas dryer, gas or kerosene space heater.

check it up or try allergic reaction as acause. best answer?

CO poisoning is the leading cause of accidental poisoning deaths in the US. Yes, you should be worried. Buy a CO detector to be safe. Especially if you have:

Headaches
Dizziness
Nausea
Light-headedness

Buy one today.

If you use propane or natural gas for your furnace, water heater, and/or cooking, you need to have carbon monoxide monitors in your home. It is odorless, so you wouldn't smell it like you would a gas leak.

First I would suggest a Carbon Monoxide detector anyways. I myself put that one up there along with the smoke detectors.
If the furnace is suspect, I would call the installer out for a check (warranty?) to ensure all gases are being exhausted properly.
If you smell gas in your home, I would call the Fire Department over to investigate.
Check to make sure you have no cleaning products, painting supplies, etc open in the house. Fumes can affect you in different ways and could be hazzardous.

Carbon Monoxide poisoning is a genuine threat to individuals in households where you depend on gas or fuel oil for heat.

If you live in a large metropolitan area, the local Fire Department/ Rescue Units frequently offer free inspections of residential units to check for sources of carbon monoxide. You might check with them, and also CO detectors are available for homes now just like smoke alarms. Be sure and get one for each sleeping area.

Good luck and best wishes to you. I hope you find a solution to your lightheartedness quickly.
